And what pray tell is your beef with these occupations? Beats the heck out of parolee, pimp and hooker. Each is a legitimate and honorable profession.

Seriously, I don’t see the problem with having folks with honest jobs as references. Seems like someone has some pretty prejudicial ideas about those job titles - hopefully they aren’t a hiring manager anywhere!

Reminds me of an interview a co-worker once conducted. The applicant said that when she was having a bad day, everyone knew about it. When asked what she liked to do for fun/relaxation, she said “target shooting”. They decided she might not be right for the job.
